Changes in the state of water

The changes in the states of water are possible thanks to the TEMPERATURE. 

Depending on the HEAT or COLD we apply to water, it changes to a different state.

Los cambios en el estado del agua son posible gracias a la TEMPERATURA.

Dependiendo del CALOR o FRIO que apliquemos al agua, ésta cambia a un estado diferente.

CHANGES IN THE STATE OF WATER

The 3 states of water

We can find water in three states: solid, liquid and gaseous.
Podemos encontrar agua en tres estados: sólida, líquida y gaseosa.

Examples of solid water: 

Glaciers / glaciares

Ice / hielo

Snow / nieve

Examples of liquid water: 

Rain / lluvia

Examples of gaseous water: 

clouds / nubes

steam or vapour/ vapor

Surface water and groundwater

Remember that we can distinguish between surface water and groundwater.

Surface water

Surface water is water found on the surface of the Earth.

El agua superficial es agua que se encuentra en la superficie de la Tierra.

There is a big ocean, The World Ocean, divided into five smaller oceans:
Atlantic, Indian, Pacific, Artic and Antartic (or Southern ocean). 

Hay un gran océano, el Océano Mundial, que se divide en cinco océanos más pequeños: Atlántico, Índico, Pacífico, Ártico y Antártico (u océano del sur)



70% of the Earth's surface is covered with water.
El 70% de la superficie de la Tierra está cubierta por agua.

Groundwater
Groundwater is water found under the Earth's surface.
El agua subterránea es agua que se encuentra debajo de la Tierra.
Most groundwater comes from the rainfall.
La mayoría del agua subterránea procede de la lluvia.
Groundwater is found in aquifers.
El agua subterránea se almacena en los acuíferos.
Groundwater meets the Earth's surface through springs.
El agua subterránea sale hacia la superficie a través de los manatiales.
People use wells and pipes to gets groundwater out.
Las personas sacan el agua subterránea con pozos y tuberías.
